Around 5 months ago the biggest fight in British heavyweight boxing, or maybe even British boxing as a whole, was David Price Vs Tyson Fury. The two giants seemed on a highly-anticipated collision course with both of them looking to achieve the same things in the sport, the main thing being a world title shot. However, on February 23rd everything changed when Price was knocked out in just two rounds by American veteran and big underdog Tony Thompson in his hometown of Liverpool, leaving the 2008 Olympian miles behind Fury at that current point as Fury looked to move onto bigger and better things.

18-year old Hughie Fury is currently only serving his apprenticeship in the sport, fighting regularly against "journeyman", but already he has caught the attention of the British public with his size and ability. After a successful amateur career, he turned pro with his uncle Peter and currently trains alongside his big cousin Tyson. After just 5 fights (all wins, 4 by KO) he has proven that he has superstar potential and that there are two Fury's we should look out for in the heavyweight division.

Fury scrapes through Cunningham test!

Tyson Fury knew he was taking on the most skilled and talented opponent in his career so far when he went head-to-head with American Steve Cunningham on Saturday (April 20th) at Madison Square Gardens, but he was not expecting what he got in the first few rounds against 'USS.'

Fury, who stated on plenty of occasions that Cunningham was a "blown-up cruiserweight" seemed needless to worry about the 36-year old's power going into this fight. So it came as a stunning shock to the 6'9" giant when he was left on his backside on the canvas halfway through round 2. After Fury dominating the first 3 minutes of the fight, out of nowhere came a perfectly-timed over-hand right from Cunningham that toppled Fury to the floor. We now had a real exciting fight. Yes, Fury had the massive size advantage but Cunningham could hurt him at anytime.

Legendary heavyweight boxers such as Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali have all fought at Madison Square Garden over the years. On April 20, Tyson Fury will not only fight for the first time on American soil, he will make his US debut at the spiritual home of boxing when he takes on Steve 'USS' Cunningham. 

Fury and Cunningham go head-to-head in an eliminator bout to become the number 2 ranked fighter with the IBF. 

Fury (20, 0-0, 14 KO's), was born in Manchester but his roots lie in Ireland. Since turning pro, the 6'9" heavyweight has mainly fought in Britian with the exception of when he fought a six round contest in Dublin in 2009 and an eight round contest in Canada in 2010.

World Junior Amateur Heavyweight Champion Hughie Fury made his professional debut just a few weeks ago and is looking to make a big impact on the current heavyweight division in Britain and worldwide. We caught up with the 18-year old and asked the following questions: 

What are your thoughts on the current heavyweight division? And what do you think you can add to it?

I think it's poor and I'm gonna give it what it's lacking. 

To become the youngest ever heavyweight champ you'll have to keep busy and gain a lot of experience.. How many times do you plan to fight this year?

At least 12 but I'm hoping 15 fights. 

Your debut was an impressive 2nd round stoppage victory over David Whittom.. How did you feel in the ring? Was it what you was expecting?

Yes best feeling ever it's always what I've wished for to get in the pro ring. 

The Tiger Can Now Name His Price

How much can Tony "The Tiger " Thompson make from his next fight?. Well Thompson can name his "Price" now after shocking the boxing world with a stunning Knockout of David Price at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. The second round one punch KO totally silenced what was once a loud crowd. Thousands of fans came to watch Price rise up the heavyweight rankings by beating his first ranked contender and for one and a half rounds it was all going to plan as Price carefully peppered Thompson with jabs and a fast straight right hand.

The first round started with both fighters having a look at each other before Price backed Thompson to the ropes landing a big right hand. Price continued to press the action and near the end of the round Thompson found himself backed in the opposite corner shipping more right hands followed by brutal body shots. Early in the second another one of these huge right hand seemed to have hurt Thompson as he lay on the ropes. Paul Smith working for Boxnation made a great point just before Thompson shocked the world. He said that Price to be careful and not walk into a shot as Thompson was looking to catch him coming in.

Can he back up his comments and claims?

Manuel Charr ranked 8th in the world by the WBC has a record of 22 fights, winning 21 of which 12 were by KO. His only loss was to Vitali Klitschko when he was stopped in the 4th round from a cut after being put on the canvas in 2nd round. That was 2 fights ago. He won his comeback fight Vs Konstantin Airich by a first round KO. A great way to bounce back from a loss by stoppage.

In recent weeks Charr has taken to twitter to "call out" some names including Fury and Haye for elimination fights so he can get another shot at Vitali. The loss to Vitali is something that clearly eats away at Charr and one which he truly belives he can avenge. 

There was mention of a possible fight with Chisora, but Charr has declined that offer saying he would only consider Haye. There was also a spat on twitter against "contender" (I use that description in it's loosest sense) Deontay Wilder, with Charr quite rightly dismissing Wilder's claims for a shot. 

Price looks to have two more fights before world title shot.

British heavyweight giant David Price believes that himself along with the other up-and-coming heavyweights will bring excitement back to the heavyweight division in coming years. The fast-rising 3-year old believes he is only a couple of fights away from being able to mix it with the world heavyweight champions.

"I don't agree that this is the worst time in history for the division," Price told Nick Parkinson of The Daily Star. "The fact that no one can compete with the Klitschko's has put a lot of people off. But that's a credit to them. They have an effective game plan."

"Once Vitali has retired, and that might be very soon, the division will open up. It will be an exciting time and a generation of young fighters like myself are coming through."

Fury could face either Chagaez, Liakhovich or Mormeck...



British heavyweight giant Tyson Fury has a bout set for November and he would like it to be against a former world champion. And at the moment, that looks like exactly what's going to happen.

The three fighters that are being considered at this current time are Siarhel Liakhovich, Ruslan Chagaez and Jean Marc-Mormeck. Now, I know all of these are nowhere near the level of fighters we want to see Fury face, e.g. Price, Haye, Maybe even Klitschko?, but it is a slight step up from the opponents he has been facing so far.

Out of the three, if I had to chose one for Fury to face, it would have to be Mormeck. He might not be the best out of the three proposed opponents and he certainly isn't the biggest, however he is definitely the most well-known man out of the three. So this means that with the amount of fans Fury brings in and the small draw that Mormeck brings then it shouldn't be hard to sell tickets or promote this fight.

We will have more on Fury's opponent in the near future, as you never know these days... It could end up being another journeyman again.

The event will take place in either one of two venues. Before yesterday, it was looking certain to be in Las Vegas but in the last 24 hours Dublin has been added as a potential alternative.

How is your preparation going for your fight with Vinny Maddalone on July 7th?

Preparation spot on, I'm 9% body fat. Great shape! 8 weeks on fire!!

Are you happy with your opponent or would you prefer to be fighting a more well-known fighter?

I don't chose opponents. Hennessy does that, I'm ready for anyone. We tried for Banks, but fell through.

Other than yourself... Who do you think is the best heavyweight in Britain right now?

Best HW in Britain Dillian Whyte.

How did you get into boxing?

Got into Boxing as I my Dad & uncles were Boxers.

Who inspired you when you were just starting out? 

My inspiration was my Dad, I wanted to show my Dad I'm gonna be HW champ of the world!

Is there anyone that you specifically want to fight this year?

Not bothered who I fight this year, line em up I'll put em over.

If either of the Klitschko's offered you a fight at the end of this year.. Would you take it?

I've been offered fights with Klichkos, I'll take a world title when my team say I'm ready, I want to win not make a challenge. 

Do you see David Price as a potential future opponent for you?

Of course, Price keep winning that's gonna be big fight down the road.

Haye v Chisora, haye better Boxer, exp to keep away. Chisora needs to show him no respect and keep the pressure then chisora can win.

Maddalone prediction, I'm gonna win in style.

Tyson Fury arrested, strip-searched and questioned!

British heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury has revealed an interesting story about him getting stopped by cops and arrested in Holland.

The 23-year old, 6"9 giant was said to have almost exactly matched the description of an eye witness. Policed stopped him and members of his team because they believed that they were involved in a robbery and murder. He claims that him and his team were hand-cuffed, strip-searched and held for hours until the police realised they had made a mistake and realised who he was.

"It was the scariest moment of my life," Fury to the Daily Star. "They were pointing guns at us and shouting: 'GET DOWN! GET DOWN!"

"There had been a robbery in which someone had been murdered and some guys in a bar had given the police a description of the robbers and it was similar to us."

Although Fury was very shocked and annoyed about the situation, he did still manage to make a little joke about it: "The ironical thing is I came here to get away from distractions at home. What a choice!"

Fury was in Holland for a training camp in preparation for his upcoming fight with Vinny Maddalone on July 7th.

Tyson Fury set to face Vinny Maddalone on July 7th...

British heavyweight Tyson Fury will return to the ring on July 7th. After all of the 'promises' from his team saying that his next fight will be against a world class opponent, they have matched him with Vinny Maddalone.

Maddalone is a relatively unknown fighter that is not even a slight step up from the likes of fighters that Fury has already been facing. No disrespect to Maddalone, but he even is worse than some of the men that Fury has beat. So, the fact that we were promised that Fury would take on a world level fighter has made this all a big anti-climax.

38-year old Maddalone (35-7, 26 KO's) has shared the ring with Tomasz Adamek, Jean-Marc Mormeck, Denis Boytsov and Evander Holyfield (the very old version) and lost to all of them. He was actually knocked out by Adamek and Holyfield.

Really, this is just a sideways step from Martin Rogan, who Fury stopped in five rounds in April of this year, as Maddalone is 38, and although he's still a full time fighter, he is long past his prime.

Fury and his team claimed that they gave up the British belt because he had bigger fish to fry than David Price (Fury's domestic rival) but there has been no sign of him fighting anyone better at all. It would be a lot better for the 6"9 and his team if they just told the truth and basically tell us that they want to take their time, instead of feeding us with promises that they will not fulfil.

Your nephew looked great in his last fight looked great in his last fight against Martin Rogan... How much input did you give to his new style?

100%. I did the nutrition, strength, conditioning my self. Changed many things, how to mentally prepare and work to a game plan, this in previous bouts had been missing? Defence, foot work and boxing with his natural advantages, being patient, and above all telling him if he listens and does exactly what we have prepared for, then all is good!
A big factor was not having any concerns of going the distance at any pace! He's in super shape, and only now concentrates on the Boxing aspect of the fight. 

How are things going in the Fury camp right now?

Things in the camp are fine, were all happy, working on a lot of small things to get right, and focussed! For me its easy he's my nephew, just like my son, he respects me as he knows what I say works for him, And I respect him also as he's a very nice person to be around. And above all he listens!!

How much are you enjoying being Tyson's head coach?

I enjoy the challenge of head coach, althoe I don't see it as that, as much as protecting him and giving him every advantage possible, I'm passionate in my work for excellence, were not their yet!

Is there anyone particular that you would like Tyson to fight next?

Tysons next opponent for me needs to be a good test as we want learning fights in preparation for the big fights out their, he's 18+0. And now needs to step up in class to the next level. Padding some ones record so it looks good to make the promoters money is not what were about, or Tyson s promoter Mick Hennessy, we all appreciate the need for quality other than quantity!

What did you change about the way Tyson used to be trained that made such a huge improvement in a short space of time?

The changes was dramatic, his diet, sparring, mental state, balance, footwork, defence, patience and professionalism and sheer bloody hard work in the gym 6 days 2 times a day total 4 hours per day. 

How long do you think it will be until Tyson will be ready for a Klitschko?

The younger klichko has learned and honed his skills very well, I'm a big fan of both of them for how they portray Boxing around the world. These are seasoned world champions and the best out their by far. I would say Tysons 4 to 5 fights away. Late next year Tyson will be ready for such a challenge, he could fight one of them now, but we are not interested in a challenge, but to win the world title!

There were recently rumours of a fight between Tyson and Alexander Povetkin but it now looks like this isn't going to happen... What happened?

Povetkins management are hard work full stop. Their Team are not interested in Tyson fury.

Are you currently training anyone else as well as Tyson? If so, who are they? And how much potential do you think they have?

I train my son who's just won the junior ABAs few weeks ago, he's also a national uk champion at 2 weight divisions and beat the best out their for his current position. He's. 6ft 6. And also H.W. 17yrs old, he's now Boxing for England team in Tri nations 14th june. He's aim is getting a medal in 2016 Olympics then pro. 
I have my other nephew phil fury, he's had 13 W 10. L3. 
This is 1st time he's been in my camp, I'm putting him out at welter, where as in all his previous bouts he's been light heavy and middle weight. 
I give advice to other fighters as well.

What are Team Fury's aims and objectives for the future?

Aims for future, take every fight as it comes, learn from it and move to next one. Perfect what I see as the perfect fighter and look forward to being part of it. 

And finally, a question from one of our fans.. What do you think of Haye Vs Chisora and who do you think will win?

Chisora V Haye? Haye's a world class operator clever Boxer with explosive power! People speak of the klichko fight and see him as the toe excuse. I'm no fan of the way haye behaved in the biuld up. But he thought it would get under their skin, instead it backfired all round. 
Hayes a good fighter, chisora, good, pressure fighter, but no real power? I pick Mr Haye. 

Tyson Fury: Chisora is a fat bum, Haye no better

Tyson Fury beats an out-of-shape Chisora.

Undefeated Irish heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has waisted no time in insulting and calling out controversial British heavyweights David Haye and Dereck Chisora, who are set to fight each other at Upton Park on July 14th.

He was offered a fight with former world title challenger Audley Harrison but turned it down as he is eager to fight Haye or Chisora next.

"At this moment, a fight with Audley Harrison can't happen," explained Fury. "In my mind, Audley can only redeem himself once he wins a world title. Only then would I be interested. Apart from that, he has nothing to interest me for a future fight."

"I am moving out of domestic level and moving up in class. I want the winner of Haye V Chisora and then one of the Klitschko's," expalined the 6"9 heavyweight giant.

He also went on to diss the two world title contenders and claiming that he is already a level above Chisora who is "a fat bum" and former world champ Haye who is "no better."

It will be interesting to see how Haye and Chisora react to this. Fury has already beaten former world title challenger Chisora but in that fight Chisora was seriously out of shape and I think that if they were to fight again now it would be a completely different fight. Haye is still a level above Fury but maybe in a few years time it would be a great fight to see. Anyway, no need to worry. There is no doubt that Chisora and Haye will reply very soon with their own bit of trash-talking.

David Price talks Fury, Haye & Chisora...

The British heavyweight scene has recently started to heat up, with David Haye fighting Dereck Chisora on July 14th and Tyson Fury attempting to move onto the world level. But, one man who is also attempting to prove he is the No.1 heavyweight in Britain is undefeated Liverpudlian David Price.

The 2008 Olympic bronze medallist will meet Norwich's Sam Sexton on May 19th for the vacant British heavyweight title. Just recently Price's rival Tyson Fury had this belt round his waist but he vacated the title which led may people to believe that he is ducking Price.

Price, 28, still has hopes of one day meeting his domestic rival although it doesn't look like it's going to happen for quite a long time.

"I think Tyson has seen me fight and knows it's too dangerous for him to fight me. Hopefully we can make it further down the line," said the 6ft 9 heavyweight giant. "There's more chance of me fighting Tyson than there is me against Chisora and Haye because they have been in world title fights recently. I've got a while to go before I get to that level... But I believe I'm as good as any of them and could get in the ring with them and compete, but me and Tyson are at similar stages of our career at the moment and it makes more sense."

Price sparred with 'Delboy' Chisora before the Londoner's world title fight with Vitali Klitschko back in February and he also used to spar with with former WBA world champion David Haye. He believes that if Chisora loses in their highly anticipated clash at Upton Park on July 14th then he will move back down to European or British level.

"The likelihood of meeting David Haye is very thin but if Chisora loses he will go back down to European or British level."

He also gave his opinion on how he thinks the Chisora-Haye fight will turn out: "Haye will be on the same level as Chisora and could catch him on the chin. Haye has got the skills and power and I think his speed and reflexes - with Chisora not being the fastest - will be crucial."

Fury takes a shot at Haye whilst 'bigging' himself up...

Tyson Fury has taken a cheap shot at David Haye whilst bigging himself 
up in an interview. 

He has been locked away in Manchester training harder than he ever has 
before for his fight with Irish hard man Martin Rogan at the Odyssey Arena on April 14th, and he is very grateful for all the support from his 
loyal fan base. 

“The support that I have been getting is unbelievable. When I boxed in 
Belfast last year I got a fantastic reception wherever I went and on 
the night the atmosphere was amazing,” commented Fury.

Fury then went on to talk about himself: “Now the Irish fans are 
getting right behind me, they want to see me knock out Rogan. They know 
how good I am and they know a real Irish warrior when they see one. 
You’ll never see me sit on my stool and quit or complain about a bad 
toe - I’m the real deal. 

“Rogan probably thought that he would have all the support in the arena 
on April 14 but he’s in for a shock because I’m going to feed off the 
great support that is coming my way. 

“I’m very proud of my Irish roots, my uncle lives just outside Belfast, 
so there’s going to be great support for me and I will do them proud by 
knocking out wee Rogie. 

“He’s a proud guy and I’m sure he’ll give it his best but when you look 
at the two of us there’s a big difference in class and that will be the 
difference on the night.” 

Now that Fury has proved he is of Irish origin, he wants his next 
couple of fights to be on Irish soil until he manages to get a world 
title shot. 

“The Irish fans are just fantastic, I really feel at home there. The 
Odyssey Arena is going to be packed out, the tickets are flying and 
after I beat Rogan I know the fans will want to come back again and 
again because they will have a world class heavyweight to support. 

“Bringing a World heavyweight title fight to Irish soil would be very 
special and there’s nobody else can do that except me.”

Fury Vs Rogan is now for the Irish title!

Tyson Fury  Vs Martin Rogan is now for the vacant Irish heavyweight title. The fight was originally set to be a non-title fight but now the Boxing Union of Ireland have confirmed that Fury has the right to box for the title after proving his Irish ancestry.

Fury said that his cousin Andy Lee who is top middleweight contender helped him prove that he was Irish.

“Andy’s father went to the boxing union of Ireland and signed an affidavit that my grandmother was Irish so all the talk about me being Irish or not has been put to be” explained the former British champion.

The fight will take place at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on April 14^th and Fury is very happy that he is now fighting for the Irish title.

“Fighting Martin Rogan at the Odyssey arena was always a fight that I wanted and now for it to be confirmed for the Irish title is fantastic!”

He also claims that he is going to be in the shape of his life and box better than he has ever done before. Even better than when he beat Dereck Chisora for the British title back in the summer of last year.

“I’m not going to make excuses, I had some problems that I was going through in my last two fights but this time I will be in unbelievable shape and I think everyone will be shocked by just how good I look” said Fury.

Joining Fury and Rogan on the show will be Chris Eubank Jr in his third professional bout.

Tickets for the fight are still available and can be purchased on either Ticketmaster or from the Odyssey Arena Box Office.

The fight is scheduled for May 19th and it is for the British heavyweight title. The title was vacated by Tyson Fury earlier this year which is the reason many people believe that Fury is ducking Price. 

Price's promoter Frank Maloney was angry that his fighter did not get a chance to box Fury. ''Chicken Fury was going to get the biggest pay of his career to date, and has let himself, his fans, his travelling community and most of all the boxing world down.''

Although Sexton is definitely on a lower level than Tyson Fury, he is still considered as a worthy challenger. His record consists of 15 wins from 17 fights with both of his losses against Dereck Chisora who is now considered as a world class fighter. Sexton also beat Fury's next opponent Martin Rogan so if Rogan manages to beat Fury there will be a big question mark as to whether Fury is going to be as big and successful as some people are making out.
