Lebedev-Jones - ALL OUT WAR!

In an epic battle that wouldn't have been out of place in a Rocky movie, Guillermo Jones knocked out Russian warrior, Denis Lebedev to regain the WBA world cruiserweight title. 

Considering that Jones is 41 years old and has only fought three times since 2008, the win was even more incredible than the fight itself.

Lebedev once again proved how tough he is by fighting for 8 rounds with his right eye gruesomely swollen shut. 

Tomasz Adamek Vs Steve Cunningham II - Fight Preview

On Saturday 22nd December, at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Pennsylvania, USA, Steve Cunningham and Tomasz Adamek will meet in a long awaited rematch. 

To prove how big a rematch this is, on the night of the fight, legendary boxing announcer Michael Buffer will introduce both boxers.

Cunningham, now 36, has a record of 25-4 (12 KO's), and is a former IBF cruiserweight champion. His opponent, Adamek, is also 36, with a record of 47-2 (29 KO's). He is a former two-division World champion having captured the WBC light-heayweight and IBF cruiserweight titles. 

Guilllermo Jones and Denis Lebedev reach an agreement...

Cruiserweight contenders Guillermo Jones and Denis Lebedev have finally reached an agreement for a fight that will take place later this year. To do this, the purse bid for the fight had to be cancelled.

Jones (38-3-2, 30 KO's), 40-years old, is the WBA world champ but incredibly two defences of the belt since September 2008 when he defeated Firat Arslan. He is a decent fighter that has had a few good victories over his lengthy career but he is just too inactive. This is what I think will be his downfall in this fight. Lebedev (24-1, 18 KO's), 32-years old, has not fought many top level opponents recently but he has been fighting pretty regularly. His last three fights have all been victories, but they have only been against a well-past-it Roy Jones Jr and James Toney, and Shawn Cox. The one defeat he has on his record comes against Marco Huck who is the No.1 cruiserweight around right now.

A date and location for the fight has still not been confirmed but it is looking likely that it will take place on October 8th as Lebedev was scheduled in for that date already. Russia looks to be the most suitable location, purely because of the fact that this is not a big, big fight and Lebedev can draw in a few fans over there, something that would not happen anywhere else.

It was not very hard to make a prediction for this fight. Lebedev is the younger, fitter and fresher fighter and I think it will be a pretty easy victory for him. Jones could make it a hard fight for the Russian but only if he is in tip-top condition and ready for the fight.

Rumours of Herbie Hide Vs Danny McIntosh...

According to reports in Nottingham, former world heavyweight champion could make a return to the ring to face fellow local boxer Danny McIntosh. If it does happen, the winner will land a shot at British cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli.

Hide has been out of the ring for almost two years due to problems outside of the sport but he now feels that he is ready to make a successful return.

"Danny is a big friend of mine and I have known since he was a young up-and-coming kid in the gym who I predicted a big future for but business is business and it won't be a problem for me stepping in the ring with him," said the 40-year old.

'The Dancing Destroyer' started his career as a cruiserweight and then moved up to heavyweight to become the world champion, until losing to current champion Vitali Klitschko. He then moved back down to cruiserweight and since then has been on a fourteen-fight unbeaten streak.

McIntosh's last fight was against British light-heavyweight champion Tony Bellew and the 32-year old just didn't perform to the standards of a top level domestic fighter. He has never fought above 182lb but will have to move-up as there are really no options left for him at light-heavyweight after his devastating knock out loss to  Tony 'The Bomber' Bellew.

Herbie Hide gave his thoughts on the fight with Bellew and how he thinks his fight with 'Big Mac' will go: "He had a great chance to further his career against Tony Bellew a couple weeks back, but just didn't perform so here's his chance to prove a point and if he can beat me then I will be a big scalp for him to put on his record... However, that isn't going to happen - my experience will be too much for him and even though I'm now on the wrong side of 40, I still have plenty oof speed and punching power."
