DeGale-Bozic Undercard Preview

James DeGale (15-1, 10 KO's) returns to the ring this weekend, defending his WBC silver super-middleweight title against tough Croation Stjepan Bozic (26-6, 17 KO's). The show takes place at the Glow Arena at Bluewater, Kent and will be televised live on Channel 5. Like all Mick Hennesy cards this show features his young, up and coming pro's that look guaranteed for big things in the future. James McKnight previews it here:

This Saturday night Britain’s Southpaw Promoted by Hennessey Sports James ‘Chunky’ Degale (27) who is 16-1 10Ko’s makes a quick return to the ring Vs orthodox Slovenian Stjepan Bozic (38) who is 32-6 17Ko’s, this fight is the 4^th consecutive fight in 8 months for the 2008 British Beijing Gold Medalist. Since losing his British Title Vs rival George Groves in 2011 James Degale has been a man on a mission he won, defended than vacated his European 168lb title breaking his way into the World Rankings and Winning the Vacant WBC Silver 168lb Super Middleweight Title in late 2012 Vs Fulgencio Zuniga.

This coming Friday we have the return of Britains' 2008 Olympic gold medallist, 27 year old James DeGale who is making a return in a 8 round super-middleweight contest vs 34 year old veteran Sabastien Demers with a record of 31-5, 11KO’s who in '07 was knocked out in 3 rounds by Arthur Abraham in an IBF title fight. Then in 2010 he beat an old & faded William Joppy in a 10 round majority decision. Demers has lost his last 3 fights in a row most recently vs former Super 6 contestant Allen Green in 2011 by unanimous decision over 10 rounds.

Froch opponent announcement delayed until next week...

The next opponent for IBF super-middleweight champion and British fan favourite Carl Froch was expected to be announced today (August 20th) but it has now been delayed to Tuesday August 28th. 

It has been confirmed that he will fight on November 17th, and the venue will be the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham. But we will have to wait a little longer to find out who he will be fighting on that highly anticipated date.  

There has been plenty of rumours as to who it will be but there has been no little hints or inklings from Froch or his promoter Eddie Hearn. As the date draws closer it seems like the most likely opponent is Kelly Pavlik. The American has made his controversial thoughts on Froch known and has repeatedly said that he wants to fight the 35-year old. Mikel Kessler and Thomas Oosthuizen have been almost completely ruled out as potential opponents and the only other notable fighter that has been mentioned is fellow brit James DeGale. Maybe it could be just a walkover fight for him but as you all know, this is very unlikely for 'The Cobra'. 

Tickets for the fight will go on sale at 3pm on the day that the opponent is announced.

DeGale set to defend title against Ndiaye!

British super-middleweight James Degale is looking likely to make his second defence of his EBU title against Mouhamed Ali Ndiaye.

Not many people have heard of Ndiaye but the Italy-based, Senegal-born boxer will provide a good test for DeGale. He is the EBU-EU super-middleweight champion and boasts a almost perfect record of 22-1, (13 KO's). He hasn't fought anybody of much note but you still have to be half decent to build up a record like that.

DeGale (12-1, 9 KO's) last defended his belt on April 21st, when he stopped Cristian Sanavia in the fourth round. 'Chunky' is looking to prove to a lot of people that he is more than just a domestic and European level fighter. His only loss came to local rival George Groves last year. Since then he has re-grouped well and looked very good in his last couple of fights.

Some people were hoping for a rematch between DeGale and Groves but this looks very unlikely at this moment in time as Groves is looking to defend his British and Commonwealth title against Kenny Anderson. However, this is a decent fight and it will show us if DeGale really is ready to step up in class.
