James DeGale |
This coming Friday we have the return of Britains' 2008 Olympic gold
medallist, 27 year old James DeGale who is making a return in a 8 round
super-middleweight contest vs 34 year old veteran Sabastien Demers with a
record of 31-5, 11KO’s who in '07 was knocked out in 3 rounds by Arthur Abraham in an IBF title fight. Then in 2010 he beat an old & faded William Joppy in a 10
round majority decision. Demers has lost his last 3 fights in a row most
recently vs former Super 6 contestant Allen Green in 2011 by unanimous decision
over 10 rounds.
In what looks to be a keep busy
fight for the constantly growing career of “Chunky”(Degale). James has had
mixed fortunes since turning professional in early 2009, making a quick rise in
domestic boxing beating decent level fighter’s before his big shot in 2010 vs Liverpool’s Paul Smith for the British 168 pound honours. After winning a 9th
round TKO at the ECHO ARENA in Liverpool. After defending it once in 2011 he
faced old amateur rival George Groves who held a victory over him. The fight
was at O2 Arena London in a close and very tactical fight Degale lost a majority
decision vs Groves which settled all the arguments leading up to the fight.
Since the groves loss James Degale has been a busy man fighting often and most
recently vs Fulgencio Zuniga beating the durable man over 12 rounds with a
unanimous decision. Controlling the contest with hand speed and accuracy James
dominated throughout. My PREDICTION
(CHUNKY KO) 6TH ROUND!
