Ishe Smith vs Carlos Molina - Fight Preview

By Andrew Graves @andrewgraves
On the 14th of September the current IBF Light Middleweight Champion American born Ishe Smith with a record of 25-5-0 and 11 knockouts will defend his title against Mexican Carlos Molina with a record of 21-5-2 and 6 knockouts.

The bout was originally suppose to take place on July 19th but Ishe Smith suffered a major eye injury and had to pull out. It was then rescheduled to be on the biggest boxing card of the year the Mayweather Canelo card, Other notable fights on the bill are Ashley Theophane versus Pablo Cano, Danny Garcia vs Lucas Matthysse, Unified Light Welterweight Champion put his belts on the line versus devastating puncher Argentine Matthysse, With the main event being the to biggest names in all of boxing Floyd Mayweather and rising star Canelo Alvarez.
On this momentous night we have Ishe Smith, the once reality TV star on the series “The Contender” fighting the very experience and underrated Carlos Molina. In Smiths first defense of his IBF Light-Middleweight title, he won by defeating Cornelius Bundrage. Smith has a win over former IBF world Welterweight champion Randell Bailey. Now Smith is looking to retain his title for the 2nd time and with a victory over Molina looking to move on to bigger and better things .
Carlos Molina much like his opponent has had a hard task of climbing up the boxing ladder facing difficult opponents at maybe the wrong times. Molina is known is his close fights with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr firstly in 2005 drawing a 6 round contest then the following year losing to Chavez in a controversial Majority Decision. Molina then suffered yet another set back in his career in 2007 losing to at the time unbeaten prospect Mike Alvarado. After this defeat Molina went back to the drawing board taking on less that credible opposition to rebuild his boxing career. Molina earned his shot at the belt by winning a final eliminator against Cory Spinks beating the American viv Unanimous Decision. Can Molina finally after years of set back achieve his goal and become a world champion?
With this fight being on such an outstanding boxing card it will be hard for these fighters to be remembered by the end of the night, But also with them getting so much world wide exposure it can surely only be a good thing for the to veterans career's. I have no doubt in mind that the champion will go into the bout the clear favorite especially after his impressive last few performances, But don't count the Mexican out he is more than capable of pulling off the upset and becoming the new World Champion.
