Heffron-Barnes is off! Barnes injured in car crash!

The highly-anticipated small-hall clash between David Barnes and Ronnie Heffron has unfortunately had to be postponed due to a car crash involving Barnes.

The former British champion is in pretty bad condition following Tuesday's unfortunate accident and is no condition to fight. According to those close to Barnes, the 31-year old's condition is improving but he did pick up a lot of injuries during the crash.

The Manchester show's promoter David Coldwell is just thankful that Barnes is still with us.

"David Barnes is lucky to be alive and I'm so grateful that he escaped from the crash without suffering fatal consequences," said Coldwell. "I've spoke with David since the accident and his description of the crash means that someone up there is smiling down on him. His fight with Heffron can wait for another day but at the momentmy thoughts are with David and his family as he starts his recovery."

Fans who bought tickets to for the event can get a refund from the point of purchase. However, the Manchester show still goes ahead on October 12th and fan favourite Matthew Hatton will now headline the bill. The Mancunian will take on Michael Lomax, and if he wins the fight he wishes to go on in search of his first world title. The show will also feature a few of Coldwell Boxing's top prospects including the professional debut of Anthony Jevons and former ABA champ Hosea Burton.

Pascal-Cloud officially cancelled! Cloud Vs Murat is next...

The anticipated light-heavyweight showdown between Tavoris Cloud and Jean Pascal will not take place in 2012. The fight has been on and off for a few weeks now but it has now been confirmed that it will not happen this year.

The fight was initially scheduled for August 11th but was postponed due to a hand injury suffered by Pascal. The teams and promoters were then desperately trying to make the fight happen in any of the later months of this year but too many problems arose meaning that it was almost impossible to make the fight happen in 2012. Pascal will now return in December against an opponent that is yet to be announced. Cloud will now defend his IBF world title against the mandatory challenger Karo Murat. A date for this fight hasn't been confirmed but it will most likely take place in November. The fight between Pascal and Cloud will no doubt happen, just not this year.

"We wanted to make the fight in 2012, but it was too early to do it in October and it was impossible to book the Bell Centre in November with Lucian Bute fighting and Georges St-Pierre. December was a possibility, but Murat felt the delay was too long and he knew that his outlandish requests were rejected. I do not blame him, he has been waiting for a while," said Pascal's promoter Yvon Michel.

"Cloud will simply meet his obligations as a champion. I believe that Cloud should not have any difficulties with Murat. If all goes well, we will keep the same agreement, with Cloud and Showtime, and make the fight in the spring [of 2013]."

WBC reject Alvarez Vs Trout!

This time yesterday, it was looking very likely that WBC light-middleweight world champion Saul Alvarez would be facing the WBA champ Austin Trout in a unification bout on September 15th. But now, it has been revealed that the World Boxing Council (WBC) will allow the fight to happen. 

A representative of the WBC commented on the situation: "We do not accept unification, because if we agree, we would be losing authority. We are not going to take away the exclusivity because we own the WBC brand."

Many people are very disappointed and annoyed at the WBC's decision to not sanction the bout. Although Trout was not the most ideal opponent that people wanted to see 'Canelo' face, there were still a lot of people who were looking forward to this fight.

It is still unclear as to who Alvarez will actually face on September 15th. At the moment it seems that just about every fight they have lined up for him, gets cancelled for some reason. The main names being discussed at the moment are James Kirkland (if he recovers from his injury), Carlos Molina and Acelino Freitas.

Khan Vs Peterson officially cancelled!

The highly anticipated rematch between Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson has been officially cancelled. The fight was set to take place on May 19th but recent test results have shown that Peterson has tested positive for an illegal drug.

Khan will now fight on June 30th against an opponent that is yet to be announced. As this date is not far off the opponent will likely be announced this weekend or early next week. It's going to be tough for him to find a decent one that will please the fans. There are a lot of potential candidates but many of them are tied up or just coming off of a fight. The main call from the fans is WBO light-welterweight interim champion Juan Manuel Marquez but the Mexican 39-year old is set to be headlining his own show on July 14th.

The people that I feel sorry for are the British fans that spent thousands of pounds to go and see this potential fight of the year. They have lost all of their money as the airports they booked flights with are refusing to give refunds. As I see it, Peterson is going to be a very unpopular guy amongst the British boxing fans.

Amir Khan earlier took to Twitter to apologise to his fans for their inconvenience: "The fight is off! Sorry everyone the only person to blame for this is Lamont Peterson. I'll be looking for a opponent for June 30th."
