British light-heavyweight contender Tony Bellew, 19-1, has been chosen as official challenger for the EBU title currently held by tough German Juergen Braehmer.
According to reports, there is now a period for negotiations before the EBU calls for purse bids.
This would be a tough challenge for both men and a great fight for the fans, but it looks unlikely that it will actually take place. Both men have their eyes set on world titles and it looks likely that both of them will get their shots soon.
Braehmer recently won a WBO eliminator against Eduard Gutknecht, and Bellew, the WBC silver champion, faces Isaac Chilembaon March 30th on March 30th. The winner of this fight is expected to take on WBC champ and light-heavyweight No.1 Chad Dawson later this year.
