Pablo Cesar Cano to return at light-welterweight...

According to Pablo Cesar Cano's father and trainer, Pablo Cano, his son (25-2-1, 19KO's) will move back down to the light-welterweight division and defend his WBA interim title there. Cano moved up to the welterweight division last month to challenge WBA champion Paulie Malignaggi. He lost a very, very close decision in a fight that many people thought he won.

His impressive performance in the Malignaggi fight announced him as a serious contender for world titles in the welterweight division, but his father believes that his son will be far more effective at 140lb.

Cano did actually have trouble making the welterweight limit (147lb) for his fight with Malignaggi which makes us wonder why him and his team are making this decision.

To be honest with you, I too think that Cano should remain at welterweight. He's made a name for himself and proved he can compete at a high level. I don't rank Malignaggi as an elite fighter at the weight but he is very talented and in my opinion Cano beat him on October 20th. He looked strong at the weight and there's no reason for him to force himself to lose even more weight just so he can keep his WBA interim title.
