Former world heavyweight champion and one of the most famous boxers of all time Mike Tyson struggled to contain his temper during a live televised interview in New Zealand this week. Tyson, who had found it very hard to even be granted a visa to get into the country because of his rape conviction, lost his cool when questioned about the incident on TVNZ's Breakfast Show.
"I didn't do the crime, I was set up, I don't care what people say! I didn't do that f*cking crime!" is what Tyson replied to the question.
The rape conviction has caused a lot of controversy in the country over the past few weeks as many people believed that the 46-year old should have not been allowed into the country. There was heavy competition from many anti-rape groups to not allow Tyson a visa. Immigration New Zealand said that special permission was issued under a section of the immigration act that allows exceptions to be given to people who may not be eligible for a visa.
Now, I'm in no way at all saying that Tyson did or didn't rape the person in question but if he didn't actually do it then I do feel for him. The guy has just spent countless amount of time and money in attempt to even get into the country to do his one-man talk show and now the main topic in the interviews he is doing is something he may not have done. He will always have that bad record hanging above his head and no matter how strong of a person you are, it must get to you at one point. However, I do believe that Tyson should have been prepared for this sort of thing in interviews. If there was so much controversy about him coming into the country then it is something that the public want to hear about. Let's just hope that he manages to keep his cool during his time in Australia.
