Lucian Bute dealing with foot infection...

IBF super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute is currently dealing with a foot infection that could cause problems with his scheduled fight with Carl Froch on May 26th. However, at the moment the fight is still on and has not been postponed for now.

The Canadian based Romanian will meet with doctors this week to confirm that the foot is healing at a good enough pace for the fight to take place at the end of this month. If it does not heal soon then it is likely that the fight will be rescheduled for a different date as Bute (30-0, 24 KO's) will end up missing a lot of training and this is the biggest fight of his career.

Froch (28-2, 20 KO's) is a completely different level to the other thirty fighters that Bute has faced. He has only lost two out of thirty fights and they were against two of the best fighters in the world and he is considered by many as the No.2 super-middleweight in the world, just behind pound-for-pound contender Andre Ward. Bute is ranked No.3 by most but he is looking to prove that he is better than Ward and especially Froch.

The fight is right in the middle of a fantastic month of boxing and it will be a big blow for the fans and the fighters themselves if the fight does not happen. But, Bute needs to make sure that he is 100% going into the fight or he could suffer a major blow to his career.
