R&B star Usher Raymond is set to play boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard
in a future film about the life of Panamanian fighter Roberto Duran.
The film will be called 'Hands Of Stone' and will also feature actors,
Robert DeNiro and Gael Benarl. The filming is expected start later this
year.
This means that Usher will have to get into shape pretty fast and to be
fair to him, he is not holding back.
He has been spotted in many boxing
gyms and fitness gyms around London recently.
"If you guys see me running around London that’s what it is. If you
see me in the corners boxing. I’m doing that while working on this
album."
His album is reported to be released later this year.
Sugar Ray Leonard is classed as one of the greatest boxers of all time
and was voted 'Boxer Of The Decade' in the 1980's. He was also the
first boxer to earn over $100 million in purses. Usher has said that he
is very pleased and honoured to playing such an iconic sportsman.
Although Usher is confident he can live up to the role, he claims he
has never met Leonard personally.
But, what he lacks in knowledge, he can make up with experience as he
has proven to have big screen appeal. Starring in films such as 'Justin
Bieber: Never Say Never' and 'Killers'. He has also worked with some of
the best actors out there, these include: Ashton Kutcher and Katherine
Heigl.
More information and details will be found out about the film in the
near future.
