Sugar Ray Leonard gives his take on Mayweather-Pacquiao

Sugar Ray Leonard, one of the greatest fighters of all time has given his take on the Mayweather-Pacquiao situation.

The first thing he said was that Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao just need to 'get it on' as he believes that boxing will be the biggest loser if the fight does not take place.

"Speaking as a boxing fan, naturally I want to see the fight - and I want to see it rather than later. It wont be the same if they leave it much longer" Leonard told SunSport.

Sugar Ray understands why a lot of people think that Mayweather would beat Pacquiao if they ever did meet.

He said: "On the strength of Pacquiao's last fight against Marquez, you had people saying that Mayweather would definitely win should they meet. But you can't say that because it would be an entirely different fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather... I think it's a great fight and from a psychological standpoint I'd give Mayweather the edge, although I wouldn't bet my house on it."

There is a big debate as to who deserves to be classed as the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

But Leonard thinks that both the fighters deserve to be ranked alongside the greatest boxers of all time. He said: "Talent-wise they're are up there and they both deserve to be. It's unfortunate... that in their era they dominate and there's no one else on the same level as them."

He also stated that although they are the two best fighters in the world, you cannot write off their next opponents as Cotto and Bradley are also two of the best fighters around in this era.
