Fans vote Rosado as close winner in Rosado-Love!
The first big fight on the undercard of Mayweather-Guerrero last night was a highly-anticipated middleweight bout between former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado (21-7, 13 KO's) and Mayweather Promotions prospect J'Leon Love (16-0, 8 KO's). The fight was as exciting and as close as we expected if not more, but unfortunately ended with a little controversy after J'Leon Love was announced as the winner via split decision. The crowd booed the decision as they felt that Rosado, after landing some big shots and putting Love on the canvas, did enough to win the fight.
As this still seemed to be a big talking point this morning, I asked our Twitter followers (@BoxingOpinions1) who they had winning the fight. Here are the results from the people that have got back to me so far:
J'leon Love - 20%
Gabriel Rosado - 40%
Draw - 40%
So you can see from the results that more people had Rosado winning the fight than Love, but not massively, and a lot of people also had it a draw, which shows us that the crowd may have overreacted a tiny bit with their reaction to the decision. BoxingOpinions actually had the fight scored dead even at 95-95 so I was fine with the decision going either way. This fight showed us that these two guys are currently at the same sort of level and I'm sure most people want to see a rematch. Rosado deserves it and I'm sure Love, who was respectful in his post-fight interview, will be willing to give it to him.
