The rivalry begins. - Charr confronts Haye at Chisora post-fight press conference. |
Charr's latest antic. |
No matter who Haye and his team choose to face in June, there are going to be some people who moan about the choice, and that's because Haye is widely regarded as the best heavyweight without the surname Klitschko at the moment and we don't want to see him taking on people he is guaranteed to beat. he could claim 'ring rust' but he returned to the ring in the summer of last year after over 12 months out and handled fellow British contender Dereck Chisora with virtually no problem. But, Charr is probably the best guy outside of the top 10 for him to face right now. He's coming off of two impressive stoppage victories and the only loss on his record is to Haye's main target Vitali Klitschko. And that was even slightly controversial as it always is when a fight is stopped because of a cut. If Haye disposes of Charr with little effort then it will be clear that he still belongs at the top.
Then you look at the money this fight will make compared to others. Charr is starting to become a fan favorite in the UK and some people will got to support Charr in this fight in Manchester (It's crazy, but it's true!). Both Haye and Charr are out-going, confident and sometimes controversial characters so you can already imagine what the press conferences and weigh-in will be like for this fight.
I hope for Charr's sake, and our own entertainment purposes, that this fight takes place on June 29th. 'Diamond Boy' deserves it!
