Shane McPhilbin Vs Enzo Maccarinelli Full Fight Preview

Tomorrow night at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, Shane McPhilbin defends his British cruiserweight title against the former WBO world champion Enzo Maccarinelli. The fight will be broadcast live on BoxNation with the show starting at 7:30pm.

The bookies have the champion down as a huge underdog, offering 12-1 on a McPhilbin win and 25-1 for a McPhilbin knockout.

McPhilbin couldn't have really picked a more testing voluntary first defence in Maccarinelli who has 27 knockouts from his 34 wins. Back in 2008 he even had a fight with David Haye to decide who was the best cruiserweight in the world. He lost the fight but was still classed as one of the best in the world for that weight division.

But McPhilbin claims that he chose to fight Maccarinelli because he is one if his heroes and his second favourite fighter of all time.

''It’s a voluntary defence and he’s one of my favourite boxers of all time – how many times do you get to fight someone like that?''

''If I can beat him, it proves I can mix it with the best and people in Europe will know my name then... If I can prove my skills, I could move on from British title level, he’s a world-class fighter and it’s my time to prove I have got the tools to make it.''

Enzo Maccaranelli has said that on Friday night he is fighting for his father who unfortunately passed away earlier this year.

''Dad was my best friend and he will be looking down on me, he always wanted me to fight for a British title but I have never had the chance before.''

There are a few tickets that will be available on the doors tomorrow night which open at 6pm.

Do not miss what could be an explosive night involving two very entertaining boxers!
